BTCCSquare news:

Former President Donald Trump's efforts to fast-track cryptocurrency legislation have hit unexpected roadblocks in the Senate. The GENIUS proposal, approved last year, remains stalled despite Trump's push for regulatory clarity in digital asset markets.

Opposition stems from two key factions: US-based crypto firms wary of overregulation and Senate Democrats concerned about expanding regulatory boundaries. A bipartisan letter from Senators Chuck Grassley (R) and Dick Durbin (D) criticized the inclusion of the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act in broader market structure legislation.

The BRCA provision—which offers exemptions for DeFi developers who don't custody user funds—has become a lightning rod for controversy. Neither political party appears willing to deliver legislation that fully favors cryptocurrency interests.
